This seems nuts to me since lever handles seem pretty popular now and are by far the easiest door "knob" type for a child to learn to open. That said this option works fairly well once you install it. Pros: *Works - actually stops a child from being able to open the door *Easy to operate from unlocked to locked Cons: *Install is a pain, you really need to take the whole door handle apart which is fine but I think since the door handle can differe drastically the instructions are somewhat vague *To open from the other (not child safe) side you have to basically force the opener. This works but it feels really bad and I am always afraid that the lever and/or child lock will break. It's the best lever door lock we've tried. If you install it upside down it works the best. I don't think it will work well if installed right side up. This door lock will probably work well until my son is 4+ and has enough strength to pull up on the door lever with one hand and move the slide lock over with the other hand. |
