The first time I was somewhat impressed as the product seemed to work as advertised. The next three hotels I stayed at had doors that opened into the hallway which is not uncommon in Europe and this device could not be used on these doors at all. On my last layover I put it on the door and as always, I tried to open the door just to make sure that everything was secure when I heard a "snap"....To my dismay, I looked down and the apparatus had broken.....the part that goes under the door had snapped at the 90 degree turn. To my further dismay, when I looked at the snapped piece this device looks like it is made out of very cheap cast aluminum which is inherently weak and never should have been used for any security device. I scoured the internet to find something that was not one of those ramp looking things that set off an alarm when triggered by an open door. I wanted something that can physically stop the door rather than just make a big noise.I stayed at a couple of hotels and a friend's house and attempted to use this product. But seem to always run into functionality problems using this. The first hotel I went to, the DoorJammer is not flush with the door. It seems to me that the top part of the DoorJammer is pressed against the door while the bottom 90 degree angled part has half an inch of space between it and the door. The DoorJammer is a new unique portable door security device for anyone needing privacy and security. It is an ideal solution for people traveling, working, or at home. The DoorJammer is a simple way to prevent unwanted intrusions into any room and provide peace of mind. Important: as you can see in the pictures there needs to be a small space (about one – eighth inch) below the door for the base of the DoorJammer to slide under. This space is normally found under interior doors but not under all exterior doors. With the hinges and angles, the horizontal force being exerted on the door from the outside is converted into a vertical force to anchor the DoorJammer firmly into the ground. Forces the door upwardly, increasing the DoorJammer's grip and reducing the chances of its rubberized foot slipping on the floor. Adjustable foot, situated at the end of the hinged leg, allows the DoorJammer to be installed on any type of floor: flat or inclined. Footpad, situated bellow adjustable foot allows the DoorJammer to be installed on any type of surface: hardwood floor, carpet, tiles, linoleum, etc.In case of emergency, the DoorJammer can be easily pulled-off the door; Simply pull the the DoorJammer upward and it will remove itself from its locked position without any effort.
