The lock in my apartment kitchen door is a bit flimsy. I felt I could open it with just a kick or maybe several. Although I live in a relatively safe neighborhood, well you'll never know. Better safe than sorry. I have searched for the best lock that won't get my landlord ballistic when he sees it. I feel I did a good job installing it without the use of a power drill, so I was only able to use the short screws and not the 3" ones. Here are the pics I took.

We originally bought this product as more of a child safety lock since our child can unlock and open doors but today I am so glad we have this as it prevented a burglar from getting into our house. They broke our window, unlocked the door and when it would not open due to this device, they tried multiple times to kick the door in. This is the only reason they were not able to kick our door in and get into our house. Thankfully no one was home and everything is ok but I am now a true believer in this product. I now think everyone should have them!!!!

Assuming you don't have to mortise the door frame, installation takes less than five minutes with a power screwdriver and drill. You can check that ahead of time by measuring the gap between the door frame and the door when it's closed; anything less than 5 mm and you might need to mortise. The stop's assembly is very well constructed and fairly attractive.

Why only four stars? The manufacturer went with #8 screws instead of #12, probably to make sure they'd sit flush with the offset drilled into the plate. However, they also drilled holes in the offset for #12 screws, so the the #8's supplied are very loose and feel flimsy. I went with #12 - 2 1/2's instead, like I've used with all the other door hardware I've installed. The screw heads protrude an extra mm or so from the plate, but that's invisible when the door is shut and they make it much more sturdy.

Our 2 year old figured out how to open our sliding glass doors himself and started going outside without us knowing. We had to do something about that immediately so keep him safe! I didn't want to have to put screws anywhere, so I was hoping these stick on locks would work. They work perfectly on our sliding glass doors so far. And they came in a pack of 2... perfect for our two sliding glass doors.

I have ordered two sets of these--one in August 2015 and another in February 2016 because I loved the first two sets so much. I have two kids ages 4 and 1.5 who love getting into things. Not in a bad way but my 1.5 year old loves to "help" by bringing me things. I also live in a smaller rambler so I can't always keep them out of rooms or places. Especially when my nanny and her two kids are over. So I needed some good solutions to closet storage. My 4 year old never got into things when she was a baby but oh man, my 1.5 year old sure does.

These Sure Basics Sliding Door Locks are more powerful than you would think. I start by washing the spot where you want to put them and then letting that spot thoroughly dry. I held each one in place for around 30 seconds to a minute to get a good bond and then waited a day or so to actually use them.

I've only been using the locks for a short time but they seem to work fairly well. Definitely not perfect as u have to really push the little clips down to make sure the item locks but once it's locked it does hold strongly.
